Canon Fodder

Those things that have been said/shown/implied on the show that make us S/X slashers just light up with joy:

Season 4: "Hush" --

Spike: "Don't see why I have to be tied up."
Xander: "It's just while I'm sleeping."
Spike: " Like I'd bite you anyway."
Xander: "Oh, you would."
Spike: "Not bloody likely."
Xander: "I happen to be very biteable pal. I'm moist and delicious."
Spike: " All right, yeah, fine. You're a nummy treat."
Xander: "And don't you forget it."

Spike (in falsetto): "Xander, don't you care about me."
Xander: "Shut up!"
Spike: "We never talk."
Xander: "Shut up!"
Spike: " Xaaannnder."
Xander: "Shut up!"

Season 4: "Doomed" --

Xander's the one to pull Spike up from the school library floor where a pillar has half fallen on him, and drag him out with Spike's arm over his shoulder.

Season 5: "Intervention" --

Xander: "No one is judging you. It's understandable. Spike is strong and mysterious and sort of compact but well-muscled." Buffy: "I am not having sex with Spike! But I'm starting to think that you might be."

Season 5: "Spiral" --

Just a lovely, almost friendly moment wherein Xander asks Spike how his injured hands are, and lights Spike's cigarette for him.

Season 5: "The Weight of the World":--

Okay, this is a visual, not a quote, but it's a nice one: In the hospital, Spike smacks Xander on the back of the head, then reacts as the chip zaps him, so we see them both from behind, simultaneously clutching their heads. Which is fun in and of itself. As they're recovering, we see them from the front again, and they sort of lean on each other for support for a second. Also fun. The part that Mad Poetess sees, and challenges you to look for, is this-- At the end of the leaning, Spike brushes Xander's ass with his hand. Or smacks it. Or at least comes close enough that it can fuel one's obsessive fantasies.

Also, the entire scene with Spike and Xander visiting and confronting Doc is chock full of buddy-movie goodness. After Xander sinks a sword into the demon's chest, when Spike looks up at him from where he's kneeling by the fireplace, there's a wonderful look of "Damn, didn't know he had it in him! Go Donut Boy." on his face.

Season 6: So not about the S/X slashiness. However, their demon hunting scene in "Normal Again" has a bit of that old Odd Couple banter back.

Season 7: "Beneath You" -- And Nancy asks the eternal question of Buffy, Anya, Spike, and Xander, after having tried to untangle all the relationships she's heard mentioned that day: "Is there anyone here who *hasn't* slept together?" While there are 3 legitimate answers to that (Xander/Buffy and Anya/Buffy being the others) it's Spike and Xander who exchange The Look.

Season 7: "Him" -- Spike moves *back* in with Xander, at Buffy's urging. And he leaves his wet towels on the floor.... Granted this lasts for all of about two episodes, but we do get to see the 'closet' that is Spike's room, in "Sleeper." We takes what we can gets.
